The School
Woodchurch School has, over the last 3 centuries, supported, and been supported by its close links with the village and today, we like to think of ourselves very much as a Community School.
Founded by the Church of England, as a Controlled School, we value and celebrate our close links with All Saints, with regular assemblies from the Rector and visits "next door".
Indeed, our year closely follows that of the church and of the seasons. Harvest Thanksgiving in School results in a "Bumper Harvest" of hampers for those in the community, with surplus produce being sent to the Ashford branch of the Salvation Army. Remembrance Sunday also involves active remembering of the sacrifice paid by the young, in the past.
Christmas is a time for village invitations to our Christmas Plays, with tea in the hall, and carols around the church door, whilst the warm days of summer see the school lead the village in a "Village Fete" on the Green.
Throughout the year, our bright scarlet uniform identifies us as we enjoy our learning environment that takes us out of the classroom and into the village, on the Green and up to the Windmill.
Apart from these close community links, the old and new school buildings furnish the 147 children and 17 staff with spacious, accommodation and up to date facilities as we do our best to meet and surpass high expectations in teaching and learning.
